Trojan Rottweilers - Rottweiler breeder in Mission, British Columbia, Canada Pedigree: Brie

trjn - "...Of courageous determination or energy.  One who shows the pluck, endurance,

     determined energy, or the like, attributed to the defenders of Troy."

"Buying a puppy is a lifetime commitment, .........as is breeding one."

At Trojan Reg'd. Rottweilers, we believe in breeding the Overall Rottweiler - Conformation, Intelligence, Temperament and Health.  All of our breeding dogs have been health tested, at a minimum, for hips, elbows, hearts, (OFA /OVC) and eyes (CERF) (please click on the link(s) to learn more about the importance of health clearances, and what they mean), along with either receiving a Championship, and/or a V-rating in a German Style Sieger Show, along with other titles (click here to learn what those titles mean).

All our puppies and dogs are raised in our home and all are well socialized with other dogs, cats, adults and children.  We believe in using the Puppy Aptitude Test, which helps place the puppies in appropriate homes, based upon their personalities, and yours, too.  A puppy is a lifetime commitment, and we want them to be part of your family for their entire lives.  We utilize the Early Neurological Stimulation method, which we believe gives our puppies an added advantage in life.

All of our puppies are sold with a written contract (pet/companion puppies are sold on non-breeding CKC registration and on spay/neuter contracts) and with a health guarantee.  We encourage our puppy buyers to enjoy and compete in dog sports, be it obedience, conformation, herding, agility, therapy work, and so on.  We want each and every puppy we produce to be able to reach its full potential and expect our puppy owners to help get them there.  We also feel it is very important that we know the health of all the puppies that we are producing, and for that reason, we strongly encourage all our puppies (even those companion/pet puppies) to have their hips and elbows x-rayed at 2 years of age, along with eye and heart testing.

When our puppies are ready to go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age, they leave with;  tail docked and dewclaws removed, being wormed at least twice,  permanently tattooed with our CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) breeder tattoo, vaccinated, veterinarian (reproductive specialist) cleared for eyes and heart, along with a general health clearance, tested and critiqued for both temperament and conformation, weaned onto a completely natural diet (or on an agreed upon premium kibble, if requested), paper trained, crate trained, socialized with adults, children, cats and other dogs, our complete puppy package (which includes some of their raw diet, information on vaccination protocols, health concerns with Rottweilers, raising your puppy, diet information, the history of the breed, our contract, training articles, dealing with teething, housebreaking, chewing, and pedigree, pictures, critiques, titles and  health clearances of the sire and dam and other relatives in the pedigree), a list of qualified trainers/instructors/clubs in your area, our health guarantee, along with many other useful items and/or articles, and within six months of your taking your puppy home, you will have your puppy's CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) registration papers.  And most importantly, you will always have LIFETIME breeder support.  We take our breeding program very seriously, and that being said, we expect you to take the responsibility of bringing a new puppy into your home and family very seriously.

Rottweilers are not for everyone.  If you are not sure how much time you have to spend with your puppy, or whether your lifestyle is best suited for a larger dog, etc., please take some time to read the following information on the breed;

Please do not feel you are not an appropriate home, if we do not have a puppy for you at this time.  Quite a few of our puppies are spoken for in advance of being born.  We match puppies up to their appropriate homes, by temperament, drives, and conformation, to what sort of lifestyle you have, what you are looking for in a puppy, and what your goals are with your new puppy.  We look for homes that are able to provide the necessary socialization and obedience to help their puppy mature into a happy, healthy adult, and to become a good citizen and good breed representative in the community.  Our puppies are raised on a natural (BARF modified) diet.  We do not require our puppy buyers to feed a natural diet to their new puppies, but we do appreciate if consideration is given to the proper nutrition for their growing puppy.

Some say we are 'picky' about where are puppies are placed, and I guess I have to agree.  We have very few litters, and our heart and soul, a lot of research, time and money go into producing in what we hope will be a successful litter - a litter of well balanced (mentally and physically), social, healthy puppies that will be greatly loved by their new owners for their lifetime.  Breeding is not a business to us......Our puppy people are not customers.  Our puppies are our pride and joy, and our puppy owners become a family, of sorts.  Buying a puppy is not something to rush into.  Do not buy the first puppy you see.  Do your research, and buy from a breeder that you feel comfortable with.    Please Note:  We do not sell guard dogs, nor personal protection dogs.

When you first contact us, you will be directed to our Puppy Questionnaire (link located above), which will tell us about yourselves, and what it is that you are looking for in a puppy.  We can decide if one of our puppies would be the right dog for you, and if you are the right family for one of our puppies.  If we both approve of each other, we'll get to know each other better (and meet in person, if possible), and decide what sex of puppy you prefer, and what you wish to do with your puppy, and what your goals are for it and if you are able to help this puppy reach its potential.  This will help us decide whether a pet quality puppy, or a show and/or working quality puppy would be better placed with you.

Please not that the majority of our pups are spoken for long before they are born. We decide which puppy goes to which home and the puppies are placed in the homes we deem best for them depending on the lifestyle of the home, what the new owners want to do with the puppy (i.e., family companion, conformation, tracking, obedience, agility, etc.) and the experience level of the potential puppy owners.

Once you have been approved and placed on our waiting list, we will keep you updated with all details about the breeding, the pregnancy, the ultrasound, the whelping and the pups' progress as they grow with weekly email (even daily) pictures and reports.   We'll send you so many pictures, you will feel as though you were here in person!  Once the puppies reach 5 weeks of age, we have our "Puppy Parties", which everyone is welcome to come to and visit and play with the puppies.  It is great socialization for the puppies, and everyone has a great time.

Most importantly, we do not breed just to produce puppies to sell.  We always breed with the plan of producing a show puppy to keep for ourselves first.  So that is something to keep in mind, that we always have the option of keeping a puppy.  If there is no pup available of the gender you desire, you have the option of carrying over your reservation to a future litter, or if available, a puppy of the opposite sex from the current litter of puppies.

Since we spend almost 24 hours a day for the first 8 weeks of their lives with the puppies, we get to know them as individuals, and for their temperament and structure (after having done a formal evaluation), we have a very good understanding of what each puppy is like.  Some people would prefer to select their pup themselves, but even if you visit several times you cannot know the pups' personalities as well as we do. This method has always worked very well for us, and again and again our puppy people have said to us, "You picked the perfect puppy for our family. I don't know how you knew"  The best advice from experts is, you pick the breeder that you trust, and then trust the breeder to find the right puppy for you.

As the old saying goes "Something good is worth waiting for...".
